Holiday Craft & Fine Art Show

What are you doing on the 26th?

Several YBC members will be vending (over 100 awesome artists and craftsmen!!) at the 8th annual Holiday Craft and Fine Art Show at the Carlisle Expo Center.

What makes this show special? WELL LET ME TELL YOU…..The Organizers..My buds Connie Hollenbaugh, Teri Hollenbaugh Bowermaster, Holly Hollenbaugh-freundel and the rest of their family work their butts off to make this a great gig for participants and customers alike.

What you’re getting at this show is quality HANDCRAFTED goodies, no home show stuff, no ‘fresh from the shipping container mass produced junk’, but real deal, made by the person selling it to you Art & Craft.

Parking is free, admission is free. FREE! Which frees up your spending money for shopping. There are raffles (benefitting the March of Dimes) Pictures with Santa, a bake sale, great food by Flinchy’s, and the absolute best part….we are your community !

Holy jeez, I’m almost overwhelmed by the awesome. So get away the mall or Big Box madness, and enjoy your Holiday shopping!

By no great coincidence (co-inky dink) this is also Small Business Saturday. Why wouldja NOT want to support Small businesses?

More details and a list of vendors can be found on the show’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/HolidayCraftAndFineArtShow/

See you there!

FOUNDRY DAY 2014

The local newspaper ran a cool story this morning about yesterday’s Foundry Day.  Click here to read all about it.  Check out the photos, there are a couple YBC members in the photo album.

Drive A Little See A Lot

If you have never made your way to the Perry County Council of the Arts gallery, now is the time to do it!  From April 25 thru May 28, several fine artists from the Yellow Breeches Chapter of the PA Guild of Craftsmen will have lovely works of art on display.  Also, this is one of the nicest galleries in the area, so while you’re checking out ‘our’ works, please wander around and take in all the cool pieces for sale.  Friday, April 25 (from 6-8) is the opening reception with wine and cheese and nibbles.

It’s a little bit of a drive, but oh so worth it!

It’s Spring, Sir!

A likely unknown, definitely trivial fact about your blogmistress, is that she is a big M*A*S*H fan.  Big.  *A river of liver and an ocean of fish big.

While I’m THRILLED for Spring, and all things Springy (Including crocus, daffodils, asparagus, and oh heck SPRINGS) I always think of this line from M*A*S*H on the first day of Spring:

Frank Burns (reviewing the troops): “How dare you wear that hat while in uniform!”

Max Klinger:  “IT’S SPRING SIR!”

Klinger Spring

It makes me smile.  After this winter (which was really no longer than any other winter, but seemed MILES longer) we need all the smiles we can get.

Spring also symbolizes rebirth, renewal, and new growth.    All of these can be applied to our art.  Now is the time to shake off the cobwebs that may have grown over the winter, and try something new.  A new technique.  New business cards.  A new workspace.  A new tool.  Try something just a little different.  Zig instead of zag for once.  Just to see if you like it.  Do it twice, if you didn’t like it the first time, maybe you need to try again just to make sure.  (Sort of like the Two Bite Rule, look it up, apparently it causes QUITE the ruckus on the internets)

Maybe you have wanted to make something different, but weren’t quite sure.  Come on!  Try it!  Why not?  Renew!  Refresh!  Rebirth!

And then you can stop at that local place that gives away free Italian ices on the first day of Spring.    Get cherry instead of lemon.

After all, IT’S SPRING, SIR!

*From one of the very best M*A*S*H episodes ever, in my humble opinion.

Ch-Ch-Changes

Our good friend and YBC Member, Richelle Leigh Walk recently made a big decision about her art and business.   Below is her statement.

For seventeen years I have been designing and handcrafting custom made
jewelry.  This has truly been my passion to produce the finest quality
jewelry.

At this time, I look forward to a new chapter in my business.  My
Harrisburg store location will be closing on March 20, 2014.  This
decision will allow me more freedom and dedication to concentrate on
creating and designing new signature pieces of jewelry.  Although my
retail showroom will no longer be open, my jewelry will still be available
for purchase.  All my unique creations will be at my Etsy store at,
https://www.etsy.com/shop/RichelleJewelry.  Also, on my Facebook page at,
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Richelle-Leigh-Collection.  My current
website is up and being updated at, http://www.rlcollection.com.

My original showroom at the Montoursville location, 252 Streibeigh Lane,
will continue to be a host site for several upcoming Jewelry Sale parties.
I plan on hosting a trunk show Saturday, April 5th, and Sunday, April
6th.  More info will be forthcoming.

A sale is ongoing at my Harrisburg location on Jonestown Road.  Beaded
gemstone necklaces and bracelets, handcrafted sterling silver created by
other metalsmiths and glass and silverware jewelry will be offered at 40%
discount.

If you have any pieces for pick-up, please stop by to claim them.

My original designed jewelry and custom handcrafted pieces is always
available by phoning me at 717-545-4511 or by email at
richelle@rlcollection.com.

The future of my business will concentrate on producing exciting new
designs.  I will be placing my jewelry for sale in other regional and
national jewelry stores and locations.  In the near future, I will be
posting the locations of stores and locations where my jewelry can also be
purchased.  Also, always available direct from me on my Website, Facebook
and Etsy pages.

The success of my business that I’ve received by you, my loyal customers,
is greatly appreciated.  A sincere “Thank You” for all your support in
wearing my jewelry over the years.  I’m so proud and happy to see my
pieces being a part of your lives.

Sincerely,

Richelle Leigh Walk

We congratulate Richelle on the big step, and wish her much success.  Being the lovely and talented person she is, I  expect many good things to come her way, and for her to go very far.

If anybody really loves their blogmistress, she’d be really happy if you got her this:
