The Spotlight’s on member Bob Triplett, today. Those of you who know him will agree that it’s good to have a spotlight on him – to be sure we know what he’s up to – Bob’s quite a character!
What about your medium drew you to it initially and what’s kept you working at it?
I made my first carving in 1949, when I was nine years old.
Bob Triplett started carving for the same reason many of us pick up a hobby – the materials were readily available and inexpensive. What he’s done with that simple hobby is just spectacular. Bob’s been featured in myriad carving magazines, including being featured on the cover of several. His work is widely collected by those who appreciate his keen eye and delicate hand.
If you had to choose a medium, other than your current one, what would you like to try and why?
I like to paint in oils. It’s something I’ve done for many years. If I were younger, I’d like to do iron work.
What are you most looking forward to at FIFC?
Visiting with the people who enjoy my work.
Bob’s an interesting man, a fine artist, and we’re delighted to have him, once again, at Fall into Fine Craft!
