We’re happy to say that member Deb Becker, Wood’n Glass, is returning to Fall into Fine Craft, with her beautiful and unique work.
What about your medium drew you to it initially and what’s kept you working at it?
I work in a mixed media – wood and glass. I initially started in wood working. I love holding a piece of wood in my hands and recognizing where it came from and then seeing a work of art in it. When I started adding stained glass to my wood pieces, I discovered that I loved working with glass too. I love the colors in stained glass, and I enjoy the challenge of finding a “landscape” hidden in the colors and patterns of a sheet of glass. I’ve found a way to combine these two very different media which is still evolving.
If you had to choose a medium, other than your current one, what would you like to try and why?
I would like to do more photography. In fact I am trying to find a way to incorporate some of my photos into my work.
What are you most looking forward to at FIFC?
Being in the company of some very talented and creative artists!
We’re surely looking forward to your company, and your beautiful work, Deb!
