Fall Into Fine Craft Artisan Spotlight – Dave Bowman

Dave Bowman’s medium is wood. He’s been doing furniture repair and interior millwork carpentry for thirty years. It’s the whimsical applications of carpentry that fascinate and challenge him, though, leading Dave to create his fanciful wood creatures, collectible wooden art dolls that garnered juried status in the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen on his first attempt.

Dave says his process starts with the materials, looking to unique pieces of wood or a bit of antique hardware to give him ideas. From there, he develops a concept that incorporates the intrinsic character of the inspiration piece, and then he creates the work of art.

When one hears the phrase “collectible dolls,” you can count on them NOT envisioning one of Dave’s salvage dolls! His work is completely unique and extraordinary; you will be surprised and delighted by his totally fresh outlook on the form.

Dave will be here, with over fifty other fine artisans, so mark your calendar, today! In the meantime, you can see more of Dave’s work on the Gallery page of http://www.ybcrafts.org and on his website, http://www.salvagedolls.com/.
